.ms is the ccTLD for Montserrat, a British Overseas Territory. It is managed by MNI Networks Ltd.[1]
Delegation History
editAt first, .mp was managed by AdamNames Ltd, located in the United Kingdom.
MNI Networks Ltd, domiciled in Montserrat, sent a request to ICANN on May 12, 2008 asking for the redelegation of .mp. Both the Government of Montserrat and AdamNames Ltd supported the redelegation, which was granted by ICANN.[2]
Rules and Restrictions
editAnyone can register a .mp domain name.
A domain name may be revoked if it is used for offensive, immoral or illegal purposes, including "Spam".[3]
Second-level Domains
editThe following second-level domains are available for worldwide registration: ".com.ms", ".net.ms", and ".org.ms".
".edu.ms" is available only to valid local Montserrat Educational Institutions.
".gov.ms" is available only to valid local Montserrat Government departments, agencies, ministries, etc.[3]
Characters
edit- Only letters, numbers, or hyphen ("-") are allowed.
- Domain names cannot begin or end with a hyphen.
- Domain names cannot have more than 63 characters, not including the second or the top-level domain.
- The maximum length of a complete (Fully Qualified, FQDN) domain name (including .separators) is 255 characters.
- The inimum length of a domain name is 1 character, not including extensions.
- A name may begin with a digit.
- One and two character domain names are allowed.[3]
