Cloudnames was founded by domain industry veterans dedicated to providing consultancy and management services for parties interested in operating their own top level domain names (TLDs). The company was established in 2011 and its headquarters is located in Oslo, Norway. Jan Sollid Storehaug serves as CEO.[1]
It is a new gTLD applicant.
On May 31, 2012, Cloudnames confirmed its application for the .cloud and .global generic top level domain names (gTLDs) with ICANN's New gTLD Program. In 2013 the company split to two companies, Dot GLOBAL - the registry and Cloudnames the registrar. A .global domain will allow businesses to secure a position on an international level." Afilias has been selected by the Dot GLOBAL to provide back-end registry solutions for both TLDs. [2]

- Cloudnames .brand Setup- The company offers to prepare the entire ICANN application for .brand TLDs, and monitor its progress.
- Cloudnames .brand Full Service- CloudNames will manage the pre-delegation, testing and launching, on-going operation, escrow and reporting to comply with ICANN requirements. The company will also help the client in discussing the Registry Agreement with ICANN and will manage second level domain names and will also provide usage statistics and reports.

- Cloudnames Micro TLD- This package enables clients to create and manage 25 second level domain names excluding the domains required by ICANN using CloudNames web portal.
- Cloudnames Standard TLD- The client is able to create and manage and unlimited number of second level domain names under this package though the Cloudnames web portal.
