.rip is a TLD in ICANN's New gTLD Program. After a Private auction in May 2014, Rightside/Demand Media (United TLD Holdco Ltd.) became the sole applicant for the string. It was delegated to the Root Zone of the DNS on the 15th October 2014, completing the successful application for the string.[1]
