nTLDStats is a data provider that offers statistics and breakdowns for new gTLDs.

The platform was created by Stefan Meinecke in March 2014.[1]

    Services

    [edit | edit source]
    • Statistics portal: provides a free web-based interface to zone-file–derived statistics on gTLDs, including views by TLD, registry, registrar, backend operator, and country.[2] [3]
    • Launch information service: publishes structured information on TLD launch phases (such as Sunrise, Landrush, Early Access, and General Availability) via a public web calendar and machine-readable files linked from its "Launch" service.[4]
    • CZDS status dashboard: aggregates data about ICANN Centralized Zone Data Service (CZDS) requests, including total requests, zones covered, and current request status, through a dedicated CZDS status page.[5]
    • Programmatic API: offers an API (in beta) that allows users to submit domains or bulk lists for processing, retrieve statistics (for TLDs, registrars, registries, backends, parking and fraud), and access public information such as TLD lists, new gTLD applications, launch events, and CZDS request data.[6]
    • Account-based data curation: provides manually approved accounts for registries, registrars, and other data providers, enabling them to update their own profile information, manage registrar groupings, and submit registration data either via web forms or the API to improve data coverage and accuracy.[2]

    Methodology

    [edit | edit source]

Their data is collected from many sources, like published zonefiles or provided by registrars and registries.

The CZDS data is updated every day at 08:00 UTC. The website update their data at least every 24 hours. As zonefiles are utilized as their primary source, nTLDStats mostly list domains that have at least one nameserver (which does not need to be valid) or a DNSKEY set.[2]
