Career History
[edit | edit source]Venkatesh Venkatasubramanian is a seasoned domain industry expert and the founder of Dotup ICANN Accreditation Consultancy and NewgTLDProgram.com, with over 12 years of experience in domain names, ICANN policies, registrar operations, and Internet infrastructure.
He began his career in the cloud and hosting sector, working with several startups and registrars in product and strategy roles. In 2016, he established Dotup, through which he has successfully helped more than 40 companies worldwide achieve ICANN accreditation, including brands like Unstoppable Domains, Trademarkia, Atom.com Domains LLC, TrustName, and Hostyaga. In 2024, recognizing the resurgence of ICANN’s new gTLD round, Venkatesh launched NewgTLDProgram.com, a consulting practice focused on helping brands, entrepreneurs, and governments apply for their own top-level domains (TLDs). He has advised on DotBrand applications, generic and geo TLD strategies, and registry backend planning, positioning himself as a leading voice in the upcoming 2026 gTLD round.
Venkatesh is a regular attendee and speaker at global DNS and Internet governance events such as ICANN, APTLD, and CloudFest, and has traveled to over 30 countries representing his clients and practice. He authored the industry guidebook “ICANN Accreditation Made Easy[2]”, widely used by aspiring registrars.
He also advises ccTLD registries, on building indigenous Registry Service Provider (RSP) platforms to participate in the global TLD ecosystem.
